only-ten-percent-clever asked: I remember the first thing I saw of yours was the "Not Appropriate Werewolf Attire" work, and that, along with others, really impressed me with the line weights and how clean it looked. I don't know if you're just super good at cleaning it up or if your lines are just that confidently done, but either way, your work is extremely impressive, if not a little intimidating. :P
Ah, thank you! I don’t know if I can call my work intimidating, though…
adorababies-and-monsters asked: Sorry to bother you. I'm not sure if you're still doing this or if it was just for certain people but would you mind critiquing my art on my art tumblr~? No pressure, it's totally cool if you don't want to. I just thought it would be cool to get some insight from another artist ^^;
Hi! Sorry this took a while, but here are my thoughts:
I love your lineart! It’s very crisp and smooth and natural, and your shading adds a lot of depth to it. You do great poses and the way you deal with hands is wonderful. You’ve got a strong sense of perspective and foreshortening, and every piece looks full of life.
That said, if there’s any room for improvement, it would be in your faces. They’re great and expressive, the mouths especially. But (and I’m definitely guilty of this as well) you tend to default to a certain style of face, and your Profile shots could do with a bit more structure.
Overall, really good stuff! Looking forward to seeing more from ya!
kaptainkattypillar asked: Critique my art blog please? Kapkat-art. Maybe even reblog my free commissions if you want :) if not, understandable. Have a nice day :)
Hi! I’ll do my best to cover the range of work on your site. Here goes:
You’ve got a good grasp of colour and your rendering is pretty solid. Your more experimental work is intriguing and well composed, as are your landscapes, which I feel are your strong points. Good variation with conceptualizing character work as well!
Characterwise, I think you’ve got a good start. Interesting designs and characters, though I feel your proportions could use a bit more evening out; you have a tendency towards oversized heads. The faces also seem to be a bit stiff and samey, so you could benefit from pushing expressions a bit more. Take note of how the muscles on the face move when forming different expressions, and try to exaggerate them, the eyes in particular.
Besides that, I think your rendering could use perhaps a bit more contrast to really solidify the look. It’s good as it is, but a full range of values will push it furthur!
I hope this helps!
